Hello.  My site is at http://carterhistory.us
and my user name is dcarter.

I am wondering if there is an easy way to download all my files (particularly the attachments from my forums) to my computer or to a backup site on the web so that in the event of an unanticipated failure, I can still retrieve my students in-progress work which they generally upload as forum attachments.

Would an FTP client software be the way to go, and, if so, how would I go about bringing up my files that way?

Also wondering if this might be the best way to upload 30+megabyte video clips for my students to view....

I appreciate your assistance and am recommending this service to multiple parties, whom I will assist in website creation...(paying folks like me...... )

Premium Portal Users can get an FTP to a Root Folder directory within their portal directory so they can upload and download stuff. We can set this FTP to point to the directory of the attachments uploaded to your Forum, so you would be able to download them.

The best way to upload 30 MB is using FTP, or a module that supports some ActiveX or Java Applet that enables to upload such amount of data. Using HTTP you can upload usually a maximum of 1MB untillyou get a timeout.

The DataBase is backed up each day, but if you still want to backup your own site, you can export each content of a module and in a case of a deletion restore it to a frash module in a new site, you can also keep the HTML source, or request a DotNetNuke Template to be restored on your own DNN installation as an addon for Premium Portal Plan owners (You will need to have all the modules you used here installed on your own DNN platform).

OK- I am a Premium Portal User now-

Can you set the FTP to point to the directory of the attachements uploaded to my forum?

The Directory is NTForums_Attach.

Perhaps you could give me a couple of tips on how to access this from my pc (link address, password, etc.)

Thanks-

DCarter
